This hike starts at the Lake Skannatati Trailhead. Head up the Arden-Surebridge (AS) Trail (Red Triangle in white square blaze), passing some of the remnants of Pine Swamp Mine. Make a left down Dunning Trail (Yellow Square blaze) to head past Pine Swamp and more of the Pine Swamp Mine ruins. Next day, take the Red Cross Trail through a broad swath of lowland forest—one of the park’s least-visited areas. Stay right at the Y-intersection, and left to cross Tiorati Brook.
